Pitching Project

Picture
The purpose of this project is to develop my section of Montrealites, the living section and to determine the direction I wish it to take. My section will explore topics pertaining to Montreal life including fitness, parks and recreation, and activities. I hope to develop my section in a way that will make it more streamlined in terms of information in the articles.

What I will be doing is creating homepages for articles which will contain a brief description of each with a link to read more. I will be editing each article and adding more to create a clearly defined theme for my site.

The intended audience is habitants of Montreal, new and old, who want to learn more about their city. Articles will include information that will directly benefit my audience; helpful, detailed information that will inform and entertain readers.

The design and information found on the site will be easy to navigate for viewers and detailed enough to gain real and important knowledge from the article. The development will benefit the website as a whole because viewers will find it interesting to read and will hopefully generate more viewers. At the end of the project I will be pitching my vision for the site to my peers.

My Pitch
For my last project, the branding project, I developed the following mission statement: This section, Montreal Living, is devoted to keeping our readers up-to-date on Montreal's major attractions, activities and issues. Our contributors examine a myriad of subjects pertaining to the city and its inhabitants such as health, events and news. These are our stories- real experiences from citizens who are experiencing everything the city has to offer.

I tried to emulate my mission statement when working on this project. I broke my page down into sections: fitness, volunteer opportunities, events and activities and parks and recreation. I organized the site and tried to create more of a community feel by linking to other Montreal-based sites, which included blogs, calendars and articles. I wanted to create a one-stop website for people to go on and be connected with as much information as possible.

In the future, I see the website continuing to grow and develop, gaining momentum from new information by students and other contributors as well as new viewers through the use of social media. The addition of future articles will only enhance the site, and I'm sure it will continue to grow and evolve into something great.
